Sand from olive pits: what's the difference?

Olive pit is a woody, that is, vegetal material and carries natural air spaces inside it. Therefore, the same volume of bentonite sand noticeably lighter; It becomes easier to carry the bag and pour it into the container. The porous structure draws the liquid into the granule by capillary action: there is no ponding at the bottom of the container, the wet area remains narrow and the urine quickly turns into a lump. The lump is removed completely with the scoop, and the rest of the container remains clean.

How to keep odor under control?

Participating in sand activated carbonphysically retains scent molecules on its porous surface; This is called adsorption. It does not cover the odor with another odor, it picks it up from the environment. That's why our litter is perfume-free — this is the most common reason cats reject perfumed litter. The capacity of carbon is not unlimited; Regular scooping and timely renewal maintains its effect for a long time.

Sand should not cover the odor, it should eliminate it. This is why we don't add perfume: the cat's nose is many times more sensitive than ours.

How long does it last?

Times are approximate, with daily scooping and 4–6 cm sand depth; It varies depending on the size of the container and the cleaning routine.

Installation and daily maintenance

1. Prepare the litter box. Wash and dry completely; A moist container disrupts clumping.
2. Pour 4–6 cm. For a standard 40×30 cm container, 5 cm depth means approximately 6 liters. Below 4 cm causes urine to reach the bottom.
3. Take pellets every day. Remove the lumps and feces with a scoop and fill in the remaining level with fresh sand.
4. Renew every 3–4 weeks. In a single-cat household, empty the litter completely and wash the bowl; In a multi-cat household, this period decreases to two weeks.

Passing through old sand: 7-day plan

Cats do not like sudden changes in toilet routine. Proceed by mixing the new sand with the old: 1–2. day 25%, 3–4. day 50%, 5–6. day 75%, day 7 100% new sand. If your cat hesitates, return to the previous rate and wait a few days; Do not change the location or type of container during this time — one variable at a time.
